Fruit
Bono exports fruit to more than 50 countries in the Far East, Middle East, Europe, Eastern Europe and Russia. Locally, fruit and cash crops are marketed to retailers including Pick ‘n Pay, Freshmark (Shoprite / Checkers), Fruit & Veg City and Woolworths as well as to fresh produce markets.
Fairtrade
Fairtrade ensures that producers and workers are treated fairly and that the workers are able to improve their lives, those of their families and communities. It is also about better prices, decent working conditions, sustainability, and fair business practices.
Fairtrade premiums are amounts of money paid directly into the bank account of a farm’s Joint Body to spend on projects that will improve the lives of farmworkers, their families and the community.
Fairtrade projects can include education and training for youth and adults; construction of buildings such as community or training.
